I’m nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?
Therapy can be vulnerable and new, so it’s natural to be nervous. It can feel intimidating to sit with someone you’ve just met and open up about such personal things. I provide a calming space where I listen and guide with focus and compassion. You don’t have to have the right words or know how to “do therapy” before starting. You can come just as you are, safe from judgment.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
I like to think of our consultation call and the first few sessions as trying out the waters together to make sure you're getting what you need from therapy. What’s most important to me is that you find someone who is the right fit for you.

What can I expect during the first session?
Overall, you can think of the first session as a guided conversation through which we can start getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share more about yourself and also ask you some specific questions that will help me get to know you better.

How often will we meet and how long will therapy take?
After our initial session we will plan to meet weekly for 50-minute sessions. This continuity will help us gain clarity around your situation, what you would like to see happen in your life and give us traction towards positive change. The total duration of therapy varies from client to client. Some of my clients find 6-12 weeks to be enough to gain insight into issues that are holding them back and identify practical opportunities to nurture themselves in a new way. Other clients feel more supported by longer term therapy. We will work together to find the length of time that works for you.
